Vilamoura to Saville with Paradise Tours

On our recent stay in Portugal we decided to go on a day trip – I love a trip out and I think it somehow makes the holiday feel longer. We googled various options and checked trip advisor before deciding the best option would be a trip to Saville. We struggled to book and the price changed from the website to the shop. By the time I had read the scathing reviews on trip advisor I did wonder what we were letting ourself in for. Always a trier I persevered and managed to get on the trip after a couple of calls and visits to the ticket shop in Vilamoura.

The trip runs Monday Wednesday and Friday and cost £25 for adults and £20 for children. This was the out of season price and one that the company didn’t want to budge from – I had seen forums saying the trips can often be taken cheaper if you book the day before – this wasn’t the case for us.

We were eventually sold the tickets in the ticket shop down from McDonald’s on the strip. There are a couple of a-boards outside and prices are clear. There are a huge range of trips and they seemed to be much cheaper than the trips offered by the companies on the marina. One company quoted £42 for adults and £21 for children. The lady in the shop took our address and found the nearest pick up- just a five minute walk. She printed us off a map and the tickets. We had visited the shop the day before and the older lady was much less helpful!

On the day the bus arrived at 6.27 – we had been told to arrive at 6.15. we got to see a really beautiful sunrise. This smaller bus took us to a bigger bus about half an hour away. I thought that both of the buses were fine – I had read that they were old and broke down in other reviews. This wasn’t what we found. The larger bus was quite cold. The driver was really kind and when we got back on the coach at the end of the day he offered 👧🏻 the jacket he was wearing as she was wet and cold. The tour guide spoke a lot but I think that is just what tour guides do!! On the way back it was just the big coach and it dropped us back off near our accommodation.

It was a great day out and there was plenty of time to explore on our own and to have the most amazing tapas lunch. I would defiantly recommend the trip.
