Paulos Circus – Rockets Tour

We were invited to Paulos Circus in York on Friday.  This is a gifted experience.

The circus is outside Roko at Clifton Moor.  There were two shows on on the Friday evening and we went to the later show at 7:15, there was plenty of parking and it was really easy to get to.  I have taken a picture of the times and dates of the shows below.  All of the seats are seven pounds – some people had vouchers from Minster FM and there are also vouchers in local shops.  I think seven pounds for seventy minutes of entertainment is excellent value.  The circus is going to be in York from the 5th April until the 12th May so there is still plenty of time to go.  There is also a Hells Circus for over eighteens.  I am not sure I have the nerves to go to that but my husband would love it.

The box office was open when we arrived and ticket collection was really straight forward.  If you have a Minster FM voucher you need to exchange it at the box office.  I thought it was great that they offer noise cancelling earphones to hire.  The doors opened at about quarter to seven and there were plenty of seats.  We sat in the middle a couple of rows back – there is no allocated seating and you choose yourself.  We didn’t go inside until seven o’clock and still got amazing seats.  I took my daughter who is ten and her friend – I didn’t know what to expect but from the second you stepped inside out of the bright daylight you were met with one of the performers and surrounded by the smell of popcorn, flashing lights and music, it felt a little bit like when you have been to the cinema in the middle of the day and come outside to daylight but in reverse.  It was really warm inside – for some reason I had expected it to be freezing.

At the age of thirty six I have never been to the circus before.  I don’t really know why and I can’t believe that I have been missing out all of this time.  It was a great way for us to begin the Easter Holidays.  The show starts with a count down from sixty seconds in lights and then the show began.

The show opened with a tight-rope penny farthing  display and which was absolutely amazing!!  I spent much of the show holding my breath.  There was juggling, acrobatics, knife throwing, laser shows and a car being pulled by someones teeth!!!  It was all very cleverly done and I spent much of the show either sat on the edge of my seat or hiding behind my hands.

If you are local and looking for something to do with the children over the easter holidays I can not recommend the circus enough.  Thank you so much for inviting us.  We had a really lovely time.

Disclaimer – The Circus gifted me these tickets in exchange for an honest review.  These views are my own.  It was amazing!!
