I was invited to go to the M&S store at the vanguard in York to look at the Beauty department. This is my local M&S and I visit often, for coffee with friends, for travel money, school uniform. So when I was recently invited I could not think where the Beauty department would be. I couldn’t recall ever having seen it. Which, now I have been, seems absolutely ridiculous. Downstairs near to the food hall at the back of the store is a lovely beauty area with a huge range of products. Again if I am honest I think I would have assumed the products would be more aimed at the older customer. I have seen great reviews about the own brand make up range but I couldn’t recall ever seeing it in this store. How wrong I was. I visited and was really surprised to see the range of high end products.
The range from REN was amazing. This is a brand I love but have only purchased online. It was lovely to see the options on a shelf. This is one of the products in the beauty box aswell.
There was a selection of makeup. Some brands were new to me. Again it was good to be able to try out the products without any pressure as can be the case when you are at a beauty counter. There were several brands that I had not seen before in a high street store.
The store is really modern so nice and bright for looking at colours. The staff were attentive and had a great knowledge of the products. They offered great advice about which brands and items would be best for me.
I am not a beauty blogger and don’t really know what I am doing with such a range of products but I came away feeling inspired to learn more.
M&S offer a great free service in the beauty departments of their stores where you can go and have your make up done for free. There is no pressure to buy but be warned you will be hard pressed not to because the range and bespoke matching makes a real difference to how you think about your skincare and make up routine.
At the moment there is an offer in store where you can buy a beauty box for £15 when you spend £40 on clothing, beauty or home. The box is worth over £110. It is a great selection of products and perfect to try new brands.
