Blogmas Day 17 My must watch Christmas films

Elf I don’t know how I have never seen this before. We watched it last weekend.

The holiday another new one for me. I have only just discovered this and I will be watching it again before the big day. I am a sucker for romance.

Home Alone 1 – very nostalgic – as a child of the 80s I grew up with Kevin. We must watch it every year and my perspective has changed from Kevin to the muma. It isn’t Christmas until I have watched it.

National lampoons Christmas vacation I hadn’t seen this until I met my husband. We watched it as we decorated our first Christmas tree. It was the December of 2003, we have just got the keys to our first home. We had no sofa and as it was the middle of December it was our priority to get a tree. I think we sat on the floor having a living room picnic and we now watch it every year as we decorate.

Love actually – who doesn’t love a Christmas romcom. A Christmas classic. I love the feeling of familiarity of this one. One of my all time favourite quotes that never fails to bring a tear to my eye is ~ Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.
